meet both the aesthetic and technical expectations of the project: “One of the most important aspects of this project was achieving hidden unity and simplicity in the details. We wanted to achieve a seamless and flowing surface, especially at the pool edgewhere thewater overflows. Plastic grates, which were commonly used in the past, both disrupted this aesthetic unity and did not offer a long-lasting solution due to their vulnerability to UV rays. For this reason, we sought a monoblock, i.e., a single-piece grate and coping system. Through our research and with the guidance of our solution partner in the Aegean Region, CRN Pool Sauna and SPA Systems, we discovered that systems made of porcelain material could meet this need! Serapool’s monoblock hidden grating system provided a clean and safe finish that blended in with both the landscape and the terrace. Inside the pool, we were looking for a material that would maintain the natural texture and offer different reflections when it came into contact with water. The 9 different surfaces of the Kaan Mix series responded to this expectation by offering a natural texture that changes with the light, rather than a uniform appearance. The natural tones of the Beige Stone product we used for the terrace anti-slips and coping completed this unity. Rewriting the Building’s Story Ceylin Karakaya, who explains how they balanced the old and the new in renovation projects, summarizes her approach as follows: “For me, the fundamental principle in renovation projects is to respect the spirit of the existing structure and carry it into a more functional, comfortable, and aesthetic future. Rather than completely disregarding the structure, we focus on highlighting its strengths and improving its weaknesses. In this project, we preserved the building’s main load-bearing structure.
