RENOVATION - SERAPOOL Porcelain
Energy Efficiency & Operational Ease The cost of energy is quite high in our country. Therefore, electric motors and lighting fixtures that consume less energy should be preferred in all facilities where investments are made. In particular, the electric motors of pool circulation pumps must be frequency controlled (inverter-controlled). An automated system reduces electricity consumption while also providing ease of operation. For example, backwashing sand filters normally requires the pool operator to constantly monitor the pressure value on the filter’s manometer. However, the operator may not always be able to keep track of the backwashing time. In automated systems, the system performs the backwashing process on its own based on calibrated pressure or time. This reduces both water and energy consumption and protects the equipment from potential malfunctions. What Constitutes a Successful Mechanical-Electrical Renovation? For a successful renovation, it is sufficient to bring the system up to standard and operate it in accordance with standards. If these two conditions are met, the renovation can be considered correct and successful. Water Consumption, Climate Crisis, and the Responsibility of Pools I would like to emphasize an important issue regarding swimming pools. While global climate change affects the entire world, our country faces a very specific situation. In recent years, due to Group 4 mining practices and other mining activities (such as cyanide-based gold production and copper mining facilities), olive trees are being uprooted, forests and wetlands are being destroyed, our nature is being polluted, and our water resources are diminishing. Along with global climate change, climate change in our country is becoming even more pronounced. In the coming years, our country will face a water and food crisis. When we evaluate this situation in terms of water consumption in swimming pools, the measures that need to be taken come to the fore. Especially in public swimming pools, backwash and drain water must be collected in water tanks with sufficient capacity next to the facility, re-filtered, disinfected, and reused in swimming pools. Although the initial investment cost of this facility may be high, the savings achieved during operation will contribute to the pool operation and the country’s economy in a short time. 127 INTERVIEW
